In one of the most popular holiday regions in Germany, you will find everything you need for a relaxing holiday: lakes for swimming and sailing, forests and mountains for hiking or skiing. The surrounding area offers a variety of opportunities for leisure activities, whether sporty or comfortable, for young or old, family or single. Altenmarkt ad Alz is also a good starting point for day trips to Munich, Traunstein, Rosenheim and Salzburg.

Right behind our house is the popular lawn 'Laufenau'. Sunbathing can be enjoyed or even a cooling in the water between shady trees.

The New Castle Herrenchiemsee Herrenchiemsee is located on the largest island of Lake Chiemsee. After the former name of the island, it is also sometimes referred to as New Castle Herrenwörth. The building was built under the so-called fairy tale king Ludwig II in 1878, modeled on the Palace of Versailles near Paris. The designs for the historic building are mainly of Georg von Doll Man, the execution took Julius Hofmann. Herrenchiemsee Palace was the last major building project of Louis II, he lived there only a few days.

Herrenchiemsee Palace is under the Bavarian Administration of State-owned Palaces, Gardens and Lakes. It is open to the public, the gardens and the Innnenräume can be visited. The south wing of the castle located since 1987, the King Ludwig II Museum.
